Our poker journey has been quite the ride — sometimes flying along at 100mph, other times just plodding. Right now we're in a plodding phase, and that's where this site was born. We're pretty sure a lot of you are in the same boat — grinding away, hand after hand, searching for glory. Just keep plodding. 🐢

The Name

PlodAlong came from an honest place. Anyone who has spent serious time grinding NL or PLO knows the feeling — long sessions, brutal variance, the kind of downswings that make you question everything. You're not running hot. You're not crushing. You're just... plodding along. Surviving.

There's something almost noble about plodding. The hare gets all the glory but the tortoise actually finishes the race. In poker, the players who build lasting results aren't always the flashiest — they're the ones who show up every session, manage their bankroll, study away from the tables, being self aware of good and bad tables and keep grinding when the cards aren't falling. That's the PlodAlong mentality.

The Tortoise

The tortoise wasn't an accident. Slow, deliberate, tough as nails — it felt like the right mascot for a site built by grinders, for grinders. The tortoise doesn't panic when it falls behind. It doesn't tilt. It just keeps moving forward at its own pace and eventually gets there. That's the approach we try to bring to PLO, and it's the approach we want PlodAlong to represent.

PLO in particular rewards patience. It's a game of small edges accumulated over enormous sample sizes, where variance is brutal enough to break players who can't stay emotionally grounded. The tortoise energy is real — you have to be willing to plod through the rough patches to get to the other side.

Why We Built It

We built PlodAlong because we couldn't find one site that did everything we needed as PLO players — honest rakeback information, proper PLO training content, and tools built specifically for Omaha rather than bolted on as an afterthought. Most poker affiliate sites are built around NL Hold'em. Most training sites are expensive. Most rakeback deals are hard to compare or verify.

So we built what we wanted to exist. Free tools, honest rakeback comparisons, MonkerSolver guides written by someone who actually uses it, and a community built around the idea that most of us are just plodding along — and that's perfectly fine.

"The players who build lasting results aren't always the flashiest — they're the ones who show up every session, study away from the tables, and keep grinding when the cards aren't falling."

If you're plodding through a downswing right now, you're in the right place. Get a better rakeback deal, study a bit harder, use the free tools, and just keep going. The tortoise always gets there in the end. Dont be afraid to send us a message at PlodAlong if you think we can help. 🐢
